Crucial Reggae From Outside Jamaica, Vol. 4
Various Artists
(Skank Records)

"Crucial Reggae From Outside Jamaica, Vol. 4" is the 10th release on Skank Records since its initial disc in 2004 (the reissue of Ossie Dellimore's "Freedom Journal").

This disc was originally going to be Volume 2 in the new Skank series ("Classic Rasta From Jamaica And Beyond") but two of the artists - both from Jamaica - couldn't be located after originally agreeing to be on the cd. The replacements were "from outside Jamaica," thus that series was resurrected.

The disc kicks off with "Treading," the title track of an excellent disc from Brother Ayouba, hailing from South Africa, and from there it's back-to-back classics from Zion, Rocky Dawuni, Rockamovya (Harrison Stafford's side project), Josh Heinrichs (feauturing BW from Hawaii), Inner Visions, Daniel Bless, Bambu Station, Melame Gange, Professor (another side project from Stafford) featuring U Roy, Zion and the Lion Roots Band and Jeck Pilpil and Peacepipe (from the Philipines).

All in all it's another dozen tunes and one hour of the best reggae on the planet. And once again there's an informative 16-page booklet with all the lyrics and musician credits. Also, per all Skank releases, a portion of the proceeds witll be donated to "Doctors Without Borders." Check out this milestone release from Skank Records. It's 60 minutes of, as the title says, "crucial reggae from outside Jamaica." Guaranteed.
